Urban portraits

Here are some images from a shoot I did with a beautiful young model called Lauren Davies. Lauren is local to where I live and Xpect Photography are sponsoring her and supporting Lauren’s ambitions. Lauren is the face of Xpect Photography for 2011-2012 and I am looking forward to working with her throughout the year on different shoots with different themes and in different seasons. The aim, development for both of us as we strive to always get better.

This shoot is a bit dark both in tonality for some of the images but also in the appearance/subject with Lauren striking her ‘rag doll’ pose on the floor of a tunnel in Blackwood. From my perspective the shoot was about making the most of our town and colour. The locations that I searched out and chose would definitely have some red in them to reflect Lauren’s striking red hair. You can see the reds in leaves on the floor of the tunnel, in rust on metalwork, in brickwork and in flowers. The contrast of the blue denim jacket against the red theme is very effective. I am excited to have included another theme within some of these images. Diagonal yellow lines. This is going to be something that I continue to incorporate into my work going forward creating a link between images of different shoots.
